The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has described the passing of the late Chief Nathaniel Folarin Coker, the Baba Eto of Lagos, as a great loss to the State and Nigeria as a whole.
Chief Coker who was also the Bobagunwa of Igede-Ekiti passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 in Lagos after a brief illness at the age of 97.
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the Chief Coker was one of the front-runners in the race towards making Lagos a leading State in Nigeria and the West Africa sub region.
He noted his exemplary contributions to the State’s public service as Permanent Secretary in different Ministries, including Education; Youth, Sports and Social Development, Trade, Mines and Natural Resources as well as the Ministry of information and Tourism.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that Chief Coker was an administrator who effectively combined work and social life in a way that impacted the State positively.
He prayed for the repose of Chief Coker’s soul and for God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Chief Folarin Coker is survived by children and many relatives, including Folorunsho Coker the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation.
