Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has given God all the glory for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) victory in the state’s governorship election.
In his speech at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the PDP candidate, Siminialayi Fubara, as the winner and the new governor-elect, Wike said that only God could ensure the kind of victory the party had attained.

On his part, Fubara committed to carrying on from where Wike leaves off and to keep his word to the state’s residents.
As the governor-elect is the first from the Rivers South-East and the first for a civil servant, which is also seen by some as a sign of more unity and progress.
