The Amotekun Corps apprehended a teenager accused of dealing in Indian hemp in the Sabo area of Osogbo, Osun State.
According to a source, Amotekun operatives were on the trail of the suspect for several hours before he was finally nabbed with a large sack full of cannabis, according to a resident who identified himself only as Olatoye and claimed to have observed the arrest.
The suspect was believed to be working for a wanted drug baron based in Osogbo, according to Olatoye, who said that when he was caught on Saturday, he called his employer to come and effect his release.
The suspect was handed over to the Department of State Services for further action, according to Amitolu Shittu, Field Commander, Osun Amotekun Corps.
He said, “The suspect was caught with a 50kg sack filled with Indian hemp. He was working for a known drug peddler being trailed by security agents. He even called his boss and told him he had been arrested and that he should come and secure his release, but the boss did not show up.
“After our men profiled him, we took him to the headquarters of the Department of State Services in Osogbo for further action.
“We hope to sustain our clampdown on criminals in every part of Osun State.”
