Senator Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for governor of Kogi State, has claimed that certain anonymous political rivals convened to determine that “he must become a distant third” in the hotly contested election on Saturday.
Melaye, who made an argument for excessive voting in 17 of the 21 local government areas (LGAs) in North Central state during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, said the following: “A meeting was held and they said, ‘Dino Melaye must not come second because if he comes second, it’s dangerous… so, he must become a distant third.'” He said, “There was only vote distribution; there was no election.

“Normally, Ajaka should not be excited that he won one, two, or three local governments in the East. It was allocated,” Melaye said.
The same thing happened in the presidential election on February 25, according to the former lawmaker.
“Lagos was given to Labour,” he explained. “Labour should not believe they won [in Lagos]; it was all planned.” The maths was completed. “The maths was completed.”
The Kogi PDP candidate went on to say that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in 2023, was “given Kano, knowing full well that other states had been padded.”
According to Melaye, this was the “exact same formula that was used in Kogi State.”
