Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Wednesday night, ordered the reinstatement of his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Yakasai.
About two weeks ago, Tanko-Yakasai expressed dismay over Buhari’s failure to address the concerns of some Nigerians who had taken to the streets to protest against police brutality.
Yakasai took to his Twitter handle accusing President Buhari of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians who suffered acute poverty, hunger and diseases.
The governor’s aide said it is “heartbreaking” that the president travelled to all the states to campaign for his reelection but could not “spare 5 mins and address the nation to calm them down”.
“To speak to your own people over issues that are bedevilling them has become something like a favour you’re doing to them,” he had tweeted.
“Over and over again, you cannot spare 5mins and address the nation to calm them down, the same people you went to the 36 states to beg for their votes, it’s heartbreaking.”
Thereafter, Ganduje suspended him. The governor described his aide’s comments as “unguarded utterances”.
In a tweet on Thursday, Tanko-Yakasai thanked everyone who sent him goodwill messages during the period he was on suspension.
“I wish to thank each and every one that reached out to me, or sent messages of goodwill over my reinstatement as Special Adviser Media to H.E @GovUmarGanduje, after my 2wks suspension,” the aide tweeted.
“I am grateful to you all for your support and prayers. Thank you so much. #ZeroTension.”
