Elder statesman and Federal Commissioner for Information for the First Republic, Edwin Clark, has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for going to London for a medical exam without transferring authority to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
At a news conference in Abuja, Clark stated that the Supreme Court ought to be consulted in order to get an explanation of what Buhari had been doing without disclosing his health status to Nigerians.
Since Buhari cannot govern Nigeria from abroad, he should abide by the Constitution and adhere to international best practises, he claimed.

He further requested that the president reveal the nature of his illness to the nation. “Buhari ought to disclose his illness to Nigerians.”
He stated: “Nigeria belongs to all of us, we are not running a banana State. Buhari is taking Nigerians for a ride. He doesn’t have the right to jet out to London without handing over power to the Vice President in line with the constitution.”
“At 95 years old, my group has seen enough of this country for more than 70 years. Nigeria is bleeding and only God knows how much of taxpayers money must have been spent by the President on his health. It is arrogance for Buhari to think he can govern Nigeria from abroad. He should hand over power to Osinbajo.”
