A Federal High Court in Abuja has banned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from suspending or dismissing Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Rivers State PDP State Executive Members for suspected anti-party conduct.
In his decision, Justice Inyang Ekwo stated that Wike’s and other PDP members’ concerns were justified, and that suspending or expelling them would violate their right to free association.

As a result, the judge stated that it is within the court’s jurisdiction to award remedy to individuals who have committed well-established conduct that constitute an infringement of their rights.
In accordance with the rules of the political party, the judge ruled that members cannot be suspended at will.
Wike and the G5, a group of four other PDP governors, actively campaigned against Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential nominee, on February 25.
