LP presidential contender Peter Obi’s staunch supporter Chude Nnamdi was granted bail on Thursday in the amount of N10 million with one surety who had to be either a level 14 public servant or a resident of the FCT with confirmed landed property.
Nnamdi, who was charged with one count of cyberstalking and appeared before Justice Gladys Olotu, entered a not guilty plea.
In the case identified as FHC/ABJ/CR/130/2023, the Inspector-General of Police, the complainant, had singled out Nnamdi as the defendant.
The police claimed that Nnamdi willfully and consciously sent a communication on March 13 within the court’s jurisdiction by way of a tweet from his Twitter account “Chude” in the amended complaint dated and filed on April 17.

“That you know to be false for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, ill will or needless anxiety to the person of Dr. Emeka Offor and thereby commit cyberstalking punishable under Section 24 (1)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) ACT, 2015.”
The judge ordered that the guarantor be testified to an affidavit of means while she adjourned the case until May 17 for trial. The judge granted Nnamdi to N10 million bail with a surety.
Nnamdi was apprehended in Anambra and taken to Abuja by police officials working with the cybercrime squad. Later, the police said that the incident was related to a social media influencer’s remark that reportedly painted wealthy businessman Chief Offor in a negative way.
The defendant stated in the tweet that Offor had been hired by the president-elect to implore Peter Obi, the candidate for president of the Labour Party, to accept the results of the election on February 25.
So @officialBAT contacted Emeka Offor to implore Peter Obi to accept the rigged outcome, according to the tweet.
“Why is he running around pleading with everyone to help beg Peter Obi to accept the result if he is sure the people voted for APC and he won the election?”
