Starting from October 2023, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will start accepting up to 15,000 complete applications for the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship programme.
The parents or grandparents of eligible Nigerian applicants who have acquired Canadian citizenship can later apply for this visa on their behalf, allowing them to live permanently in Canada.
The IRCC will begin mailing invitations to apply on October 10, 2023, and will accept up to 15,000 fully submitted applications. Starting on October 10, 2023, these invites will be sent out over the course of many weeks.
Starting in 2020, the IRCC will invite potential sponsors who have been chosen at random from the pool of submitted ideas to apply rather than launching a new interest-to-sponsor form. Both the 2021 and 2022 intakes followed this strategy. Anyone who submitted an interest-to-sponsor application in 2020 but did not obtain an invitation to submit an application in 2021 or 2022 should double-check the email address they gave in 2020.

The Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal will be used for applicants who have been invited to submit an application for the intake of 2023.
Broad Eligibility The following requirements must be satisfied in order for you to sponsor your parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR):
You must be at least 18 years old and fit into one of the following categories: a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or someone who is recognised as an Indian by the Canadian Indian Act.
You must provide verifiable proof of income for the last three years that satisfies the IRCC’s financial standards in order to prove that you have the resources necessary to support the family you intend to sponsor. The webpage lists the financial contribution for each family member.
Choosing the Canada Super Visa In order to reunite with their parents and grandparents in Canada, people who haven’t been able to take part in the sponsorship programme since 2020 can apply for a super visa.
Recall that holders of the super visa are permitted to remain in Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with the option to extend their stay by up to 2 years without leaving the country, while changes make it simpler for Canadian citizens and permanent residents to have the chance to reunite with their parents and grandparents.
