On Thursday, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja dismissed a criminal prosecution against Amarachi
Chyna Iwuanyanwu, the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, for his alleged involvement in a N75 million fraud.
On the request of the Inspector General of Police, Justice Charles Agbaza dismissed the charges (IGP).
The IGP, who brought the allegations, filed a move on notice to the court on Thursday, requesting that the charges be dropped.
The police chief requested the court to dismiss the allegations in the interest of justice in a motion submitted by his lawyer, Mr Umoh Inah.
Chief Chris Uche (SAN), who represented the Deputy Speaker, did not oppose the motion.
As a result, Agbaza ordered that the charges be dropped immediately.
