March 2nd has been designated as “Burna Boy’s Day” by the American city of Boston in Massachusetts to celebrate the Nigerian singer who received attention for his “performances and advocacy works.”
This was stated in a document from the Boston City Council that Councillor Ruthzee Louijeune signed, and it said, among other things, that the city’s efforts to celebrate and acknowledge diversity and culture are demonstrated by the variety of festivals, events, and community projects that highlight the city’s multicultural landscape and:

In light of the fact that Burna Boy’s legacy inspires us to keep raising awareness of voices that have long been marginalised or ignored, it is agreed that March 2, 2024, will be remembered as Burna Boy Day in the City of Boston.
Given that Burna Boy has played a number of sold-out events in Boston since making his international debut in 2018, the paper claims that he was awarded for his “performances and advocacy works.”
