The All Progressives Congress revealed that President Bola Tinubu’s attempts to resolve the conflict between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara have reached a dead end. The APC was allegedly courting Wike to join them, emphasising that once he did, he would take over as the party’s leader in the State.
Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, said at a press conference on Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja that Tinubu’s attempt to put an end to the ongoing dispute between Fubara and Wike had failed.
“Whatever that was, it has broken down, and it has been broken irreconcilably,” stated Okocha.
Additionally, he claimed that the four members of the state House of Assembly, led by the divisive Speaker Edison Ehie, were focusing on criminality and that their actions would not be tolerated as they sat and approved the budget that Governor Fubara had offered them for the fiscal year 2024.

For weeks now, Fubara and Wike have been at loggerheads about who gets to run the State’s affairs and resources.
In an attempt to patch things up between the two politicians in the state, Tinubu recently met with Wike and Fubara at the presidential villa in Abuja. However, over the past four days, events have taken a terrifying turn when the state House of Assembly Complex was demolished and 27 assembly members who were loyal to Wike defected to the APC.
