Palpable tension and fear of the unknown have continued to unsettle residents of various communities in Delta State following strange and bizarre events that had claimed a number of life in the last few weeks.
While the fear of the unknown persists, a conductor at the weekend was reported to have been roasted to death around Aboh Ogwashi Uku community in the state in a tanker he was traveling in after it caught fire in collision with a car coming from the opposite direction.
It was gathered that the tanker was heading towards Asaba from Ogwashi-Uku community while the vehicle, a Lexus with plate number AA236AS collided with the tanker, leaving the conductor roasted.
Eyewitness Richard Ejiro said that the tanker fell after the incident while the Lexus vehicle summersaulted when the tanker allegedly failed break and rammed into it, fortunately, the occupants of the Lexus vehicle were rescued before the tanker went up in flame.
Sources, however, said that the timely intervention of men of the Delta State Fire Service saved the two buildings close to the scene of the accident from the inferno.

But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident, saying that investigation was ongoing with a view to ensuring the root cause of the incident and bring the offenders to book.
In another development, a businessman identified as Manager Emgbeke, also at the weekend was allegedly murdered by unknown gunmen along Bomadi- Ohoror road in Delta State.
Reports said that the incident occurred when the victim who hailed from Tuomo Community in Burutu Local Government Area of the state was returning from a business trip to Ughelli.
DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who confirmed the development, said that the victim was robbed of the sum of N4million on the spot before he was shot dead.
She said : “He was returning from from Ughelli on a business trip when he was shot along Bomadi Ohoror road just after Ohoror Community by unknown gunmen who also robbed him of his N4million on the spot.
” We are working hard to ensure that the criminals or hoodlums are arrested and ensure they face the laws.”
Also, a 27 year old man identified as Prince Miebi was on Saturday allegedly stabbed to death in Warri after he won N15million in a bet game in the area.
The victim was said to have been stabbed at various parts of his body including his chest after he had just closed from his aunt’s shop at the popular Ogbe Ijoh market in Warri South Local Government Area of the state by hoodlums who reportedly accosted him to where they descended on him.
It was gathered that the assilants after stabbing him, made away with his mobile phone including the N15million he was paid.
DSP Onovwakpoyeya confirmed that investigation was ongoing with a view to bringing those responsible for the dastardly act to face the wrath of the law.
She revealed that the police have arrested some of the victim’s relations for interrogation.
Meanwhile, Sapele, was at the weekend thrown into shock following the killing of an unidentified man by suspected cultists.
In another development, , ten seafarers were at the weekend kidnapped from the general cargo vessel Milian, some 14 nautical miles off the Pennington offshore Terminal in Nigeria.
The vessel was in transit from Escrasvos in Delta state to Douala , Cameroon according to the UK based maritime security firm Dryrad Global
Reports said that the vessel was in a Southbound transit when she stopped to attend to some issues as the precise time of the attack remains unclear as the time of this report, but it was the 6th boarding incident, excluding Lagos State within Nigerian territorial waters in 2020.
