The Anambra State Government has established a commission of inquiry to look into the scandal surrounding the highest-scoring student in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, a 16-year-old student at an Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi.
However, JAMB rejected her results as false, alleging that they were falsified and that she will face legal action as a result, in a press release on Sunday evening.

The probe will reveal the truth regarding how Miss Ejikeme, who had previously been declared to have received the highest score—362—was determined, according to a news release issued by the Anambra State Ministry of Education and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnaemeka Egwuonwu.
The Education Commissioner, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, expressed concern at the occurrence, which came as the Soludo-led administration was shifting its focus on its vowed goal of improving education in the State.
While security agents look into the allegation of result falsification made against Ejikeme Mmesoma, who had previously been highlighted in the social media as having scored the highest, the Anambra State Government will continue to celebrate Nkechinyere Umeh, who was declared the highest by JAMB, having scored a cummulative mark of 360.
