Nyesom Wike, the immediate-past governor of Rivers State, praised President Bola Tinubu for removing Godwin Emefiele from his position as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Emefiele was suspended by Tinubu on Friday due to an “ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy” and was told to turn over immediately to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) of the Apex Bank, Folashodun Shonubi.

Wike, who was one of Emefiele’s detractors for his policies, particularly the redesign of the Naira, reacted to the news by calling the President’s choice daring and appropriate.
According to a statement released by his media team, the former governor also commanded President Tinubu for approving uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial personnel across the nation, arguing that the President’s decision will give the judiciary a new lease on life.
The President is exhibiting “focused and exemplary leadership that will lead the country to prosperity,” he said, adding that he and the other G5 members are impressed.
