Onyeka Onwenu, the renowned singer and composer from Nigeria, tragically died on Tuesday night just after singing at a birthday celebration in Lagos. News reporters were informed of the startling event by sources close to the family.
The legendary musician, dubbed the “Elegant Stallion,” is said to have passed away at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, after collapsing during her performance on the stage during the birthday celebration of Mrs. Stella Okoli, the founder of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

Witnesses claimed that following her performance, she abruptly sank back into her seat. She was taken to the hospital right away after emergency services were summoned, where it was determined that she had passed away. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Born on May 31, 1952, Onyeka Onwenu was a multifaceted artist and composer, actor, journalist, and politician. Her career lasted more than 40 years. Her songs frequently tackled social and political themes and included several genres, including pop, reggae, and highlife.
